The Best performing MLA Sri BA Basavaraj Byrathi, Aiming to make KR Puram  a Model constituency.

The first time MLA from KR Puram assembly constituency, Sri. BA Basavaraj (Byrathi), the leader of Iindian National Congress in Karnataka and  a close associate of the Chief Minister   Sri.Siddaramaiah. A graduate, he is a dedicated social worker of this constituency was into farming and real-estate business earlier. He is hailing from a decent wealthy family.

According to the rankings by citizens, most of the 28 Bangalore MLAs have been average performers in their first year in office, scoring an average of 5.47 on a scale of 10, the highest score being 6.21 for Sri Basavaraj (Byrathi) and the lowest 3.45.

The lawmakers' average performance is bad news for a city reeling under a garbage menace, bad roads and corruption in public life. But the silver lining is that 23 MLAs are above the average on issues such as accessibility, garbage, traffic congestion, slum clearance and providing facilities to pedestrians and cyclists.

"The survey not only reflects the performance of legislators but also of the state government. When there is a proactive state government, there will always be active legislators. Without support from the government, the MLAs cannot push their agenda for their constituencies,
Based on feedback from around 150 respondents in each of the 28 constituencies, the survey ranked first-time Congress MLA Basavaraj (Byrathi) from KR Puram, as the top performer.

"The reason could be that I focus on people's problems and keep myself available for them,'' says Sri. Basavaraj.

Krishnarajpura, popularly known as KR Puram, has reported an impressive 32 percent increase in property values in the last couple of years. KR Puram, one of the suburbs located in the eastern part of Bangalore, is priced at anywhere between Rs 2700–4500 per sq. ft. on normal conditions. The locality’s induction into the BBMP is one of the key reasons being attributed to its impressive rise in real estate value.

One of the positive trends that the area has witnessed is in terms of better infrastructure. From a locality that comprised broken paths, bumpy roads, debris and even ruins, it is being transformed well. Further, the area that previously consisted of kirana stores has witnessed the development of several up-market locales and fine dining eateries. All these factors have helped attract more upscale buyers and those who had invested in property prior to 2011 have profited immensely.

The area has one of the largest numbers of educational institutions in Bangalore. International schools, ICSE schools, Engineering colleges, the internationally acclaimed Garden City College, the premier Cambridge institute of technology, engineering college, and  many upcoming post graduate colleges are present in the vicinity. In the last two years, several leading developers have launched projects in the area. These include the Prestige Group, DS-Max, GM Infinite, Radiant Group and Elite Developers. It is evident that Sri. Basavaraj (Byrathi) as the elected representative of this constituency had strived hard to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the area.
